Vangelis - Conquest of Paradise. Our own Canterbury theme song... set to a video tribute. The applause of the crowd is for the entrance of the USAR teams to the service - who searched tirelessly for the injured and dying, retrieved so many bodies. It is also acknowledgement of all the support from the people who ensured we all had food, water, toilets, power, cleared roads and driveways, raised money and those who made donations from New Zealand and the rest of the world.
The community of Christchurch recognises all the support and says thank you! It is making this unthinkable situation more bearable.
Our thoughts are with the residents of Japan currently enduring their own version of hell.
